I had every intention of running socially again this week. I’ve really enjoyed the social club runs on a Tuesday and Wednesday and any excuse to run with another person makes the miles all the easier. This week though, Mark told me to get on with it and run a faster one, maybe last time’s conversation wasn’t as riveting as I thought it was.
I will admit this is written months post-race, and I can’t actually remember anything from it bar small bits and pieces. These include getting slowed on the singletrack though I think this was pacing support in disguise, the rivers being pretty dry so crossing them was done in record time, gaining strength on the hill from the runner behind and his inspirational musings, and sprinting too early (probably the exact right time) and sputtering over the line. It wasn’t quite a course PB, but I was very impressed with the time I managed given the lack of any speed work this year.
